Murder at the Lakeside Library by Holly Danvers

Murder at the Lakeside Library, to be published on July 13, 2021, weaves a number of themes together for an interesting story. We view these themes through Rain's own voice, perspective, and thoughts. We learn about her current struggles with the loss of a husband who had been unfaithful to her. We discover strained family relationships with and between her parents. Finally, we discover the comfort of returning to childhood memories in the midst of turmoil. Then there's a murder added to the chaos already confronting our heroine. The book, for me, was part page-turner, but also had places where the pace seemed awkwardly slow. It was fine for a light read. Some of the narrative seemed unnecessary and interrupted the flow of the story, but that might work for some. It was a nice surprise to find the recipe for Chicken Pesto at the end of the book!
